I start baking gingerbread on late August Saturday nights; photos of my baking including that for an upcoming autumn family get-together will be chronicled in Cozy Photos from Home. My husband and I will be having picnics at the nearby geodesic home near the Museum of Life and Science when cooler weather returns, and upcoming trips to Edison Johnson and local cemeteries will be scrapbooked here on my blog. I just want to get through August. It's an incredibly busy month for me at my job, and there are a lot of details I must keep track of. Luckily, when I am in the thick of my job, I can be left alone to deal with it as I do. This summer has been a summer of waiting—waiting for my new job to start, waiting to lose the weight, waiting for my hair to get long enough again to pull up, waiting for the cool weather to return. And of course there is waiting for the weekend to start. However, the thought has occurred to me—if I spend most of my life waiting, am I really content? Aren't I just waiting my life away, and what precious time I have with my aging husband? Of course, R. is waiting, too—waiting to come home to me each night, waiting for our December trip to Bath, waiting for our weekends together. What is it about life that is so mundane day-to-day?
